Garden at Chochmat HaLev
Back in May, Green Chaverim built a couple of raised, redwood garden boxes (4x8x2, 4x6x1.5) at Chochmat HaLev in South Berkeley. That's 56 square feet of prime gardening space.
With the help of some volunteers, we filled them with nutrient rich soil...
The Victory Garden Foundation and Urban Adamah donated plants and seeds, and we purchased more plants from the nearby Willard Middle School's Spring plant sale.
By July, the tomato plants were growing like weeds, and we had a healthy selection of lettuce, chard, mustard, basil, marjoram, and parsley. Cucumbers and green beans will be ready soon!
